  • DAY 6

I ran out of bananas yesterday so my dad bought me a whole new batch. Unfortunately, the only bananas our local grocery store had on hand where all green!

This totally sucks because I get most of my calories from bananas! Since starting this trial, I have been averaging about 6-9 bananas a day (although more than half is blended into my smoothies). The photo above will last me about 3 days, 4 max. Yesterday I only had three so that most likely lowered my calorie intake which could have contributed to my low energy level.

I am also running low on spinach. Green bananas?! No more spinach??!? This can really get a girl depressed…=(

    Today I had:

    * hot cacao drink (1 tbsp cacao powder, 2 tbsp raw agave syrup)

    * green smoothie (3 cups blueberries, 3 handfuls spinach, 3 tbsp flax seed, 1 ½ cup water)

Not bad. I still miss my bananas, though =(. RIPEN BANANAS, RIPEN!

    * 1 dry pint or 550 ml box of grape tomatoes and 3 medium sized bananas.

I forgot to prepare a meal for work today. Fortunately, I work at a retail/grocery store and we have a decent selection of produce. I made a quick grab for the grape tomatoes, and 3 medium sized (RIPE!) bananas and made a meal out of that. The grape tomatoes were delish and the bananas made me quite happy =).

Today was the first day I went out to eat during this trial. Initially, I was really worried because I felt like I would not have the same control over the food versus what I prepare at home. Not the case. If you’ve ever been to a sushi restaurant, most of the things on the menu is usually some type of raw or cooked seafood slabbed onto a bed of nori and/or cooked white rice. But since I am on this raw, vegan-based diet it permitted me from ordering such things. Luckily, Japanese sushi restaurants have a great selection of vegetarian rolls too! And a lot of the vegetable based rolls are raw! I asked about their seaweed, whether it be roasted or sun-dried, and they told me it was sun dried! (I know I sound waaay to excited but uh hello? Jackpot!) Topping it all off, I asked to hold the rice. And there you go: a raw, vegan-based sushi meal fit for a queen on a 30 day trial (me being the queen, of course =P)! I enjoyed the meal a lot. I wasn’t even tempted by the sashimi plate my friend had ordered (which is what I usually go for). Sorry! No picture for this meal…I forgot to bring my camera along. =(

    * Oh and in that meal, I ordered 5 different rolls and herbal tea. Sorry, I cannot recall the rolls I had ordered!

    * 1 large grapefruit and 1 small green banana

I wish I had bought some more of the bananas at work after my shift. But little hopeful Annie wanted to believe that by the time she gets home, the bananas had magically ripened over the course of a few hours. (Yes, I used myself in the third person!) The grapefruit was delicious but the banana left my mouth with this weird stingy residue. Yuck!

I was originally just going to have a grapefruit…

But it ended up looking rather mean (and I`d prefer my fruits looking happy)…

    evilface

So I threw in a peeled banana and added the grapefruit`s rinds as ears! It ended up looking quite devious…

    I blame the green banana!

My dad promised me a little grocery date tomorrow! YAY, I`M EXCITED!

    Till next time!

put the bananas together in paper bag and rubber band the top. Bananas give off a gas that ripens fruit (so if other fruit needs to be ripened, toss it in the bag too). This will cut the wait time.

    Good luck!
