RAW TRIAL DAY 14
awDAY 14
They’re cooking bacon! And frying eggs! And it’s 5 pm! Spite them all! Spite them aaaalll!
LOL, sorry. But really, must they torture me with the heavenly smell of bacon and the sight of scrambled eggs like so? Baaah, I think I am going to take a nap to drown out this temptation.
Will update with intake later tonight -- expect another tedious post =(.
--
UPDAATE: 16 more days left till the end of this trial.
Oh, and the house still smells like bacon =(.
Today’s intake:
* green smoothie (3 small bananas, 3 tbsp flaxseeds, 2 handfuls spinach, 1 cup water)
* 1/3 cup dates, ½ grapefruit
* 2 nori wraps (stuffing consisted of a whole avocado, ½ in each wrap) and about 1 tbsp of nama shoyu as a dipping sauce
Nama shoyu is considered as the raw form of soya sauce. It is organic, unprocessed and unpasturized. “Nama” is the Japanese word for “raw”. There is an ongoing debate on whether this product can truly be considered “raw” (critics say that although it is unpasturized and unprocessed, it is still made from cooked ingredients) but many raw foodists swear by it. I am not sure myself but I took a chance on this one. It complimented the avocado nori wrap well, though =)
* green smoothie (3 large bananas, about ½ cup of frozen strawberries, 2 handfuls mixed greens, 1 and ½ cup water)
* 1/3 cup dates, last ½ of the grapefruit
I tend to snack on goodies while on my shift mainly to pass the time (and a little sugar rush from time to time can really perk a girl up!). But since starting this diet I have been avoiding candies, gums, and chocolates like the plague. I haven’t been able to find an alternative..up until now. DATES! Dates provides me with that sugar rush without having that sugar crash afterwards. Plus they have this really creamy texture and distinct caramelized taste to it which I find quite enjoyable and yummy!
* 2 more nori wraps (1st stuffing consisted of 2 large mushrooms, and 1 plumb tomato; 2nd stuffing consisted of ½ of an avocado)
*a mug of hot cacao (1tbsp cacao powder, 2 tbsp raw agave syrup) and 1/3 cup of raw cashews.
I didn’t get a chance to really up my intake of green smoothies today. But I only had a third cup of raw cashews today!! But then again…I did almost have 2 avocadoes today…=\. I know I have stated that it is very important to add some good fats into your daily diet but what I forgot to note is that MODERATION IS KEY! I have been upping my intake too much too fast and that may be causing this lethargic energy I‘ve recently been experiencing. I have also been noticing how bloated I’ve been feeling these past couple of days since increasing my fat intake. I may be seeing why some raw foodists have chosen to keep their fat at a minimum -- a diet like this should be revving you up, not draining you down.
Again, I have to apologize for yet another tedious post. But hold tight because I have been observing a particular "something" that could potentially determine my decision to continue on (or not!) with this raw food lifestyle. I will not be discussing it in today’s post but I will definitely devote an upcoming post regarding this certain factor soon enough!
Ciao for now, guys!

Thanks for the encouraging comment. I really appreciated it.
Wow, that's awful about the bacon. It really stinks to have smells that tempt you everywhere. But good job resisting the foods that are bad for you. Keep that up.
