RAW TRIAL DAY 17
Day 17
13 more days left to the end of this trial.
Today turned out to be a really good day. To put it in so many words, I felt high on life! Minus the narcotics. OH, OH! And last night was the first night on the trial where I didn’t dream of eating cooked foods!
I look at food differently now. Canned foods, concentrated juices, and processed packaged foods are no longer appealing to me. Since starting this raw food journey, I am finding myself instantly drawn to the fresh, brightly coloured produce.
I look at the back of the food packages all the time. I have been known to do this in the past but always to check the nutritional value. I hardly ever checked the different kinds of ingredients used to make the particular item. Now, my interest is in the ingredients portion of the package. Have you ever read the ingredients on the back of some of your favourite snacks? From a bag of cheetos to a your favourite frozen dinner, you will be surprised to find that more than half of the ingredients are chemicals you can’t even pronounce!
MmmM looks good! What a normal looking dinner!
Oh, it’s a frozen dinner…? That’s fine! Its convenient!
Oh, but what’s this? Modified food starch? Hydrolyzed soy protein? Disodium dihydrogen pyrophosphate? Sounds tasty! Oh and how good does that enzyme modified butter fat sound to you?!?!?11111!
YUM.
It doesn’t take a licensed dietician to figure out that these so-called ingredients cannot be good for your body!
Call me crazy but a batch full of beautiful red grapefruits looks way more appealing than a fat modified, toxin-injected frozen dinner!
Today I had:
* 1 large grapefruit and a mug of hot cacao (1 tbsp raw cacao powder, 2 tbsp raw agave syrup)
* green smoothie (consisting of 3 handfuls of spinach, 1 large semi-ripe banana, 1 cup blueberries, 1 cup water)
* a mug of hot cacao, 1/3 cup raw sesame seeds, and a small plate full of sliced mushrooms with 1 tbsp of nama shoyu as a dipping sauce (I used 5 small mushrooms)
* 2 nori wraps (stuffing consisted of 1 avocado, 1/2 in each wrap) and 1 tbsp nama shoyu
* about 1/3 of a dragon fruit
A dragon fruit (also know as a Pitaya) is a type of fruit that grows on several cactus species. The white inside part of the fruit is rich in fibre and vitamin c and it’s leathery red skin is full of antioxidants. I absolutely love this fruit! Not only does it looks so beautiful and exotic, the meat is succulently sweet with just a hint of sourness to it. The taste is kind of a cross between a kiwi and a sweet papaya and it is the size of a large mango. I regret only buying one because my family absolutely loves this fruit!
* 1 coco glace dessert
I actually went into the Asian market looking for some fresh young coconut. I really enjoyed the first one I had on this trial and I especially enjoyed the coconut water. They unfortunately had none shipped in today. Luckily, my dad found these babies in the freezer isle. It was absolutely delicious!
It is apparently all natural, no added sugars or chemicals, and shipped frozen for preservation.
This is how it looked like out of the box.
* 2 more hot cacao.
Another intake on the low side. I expect the bananas to be ripe by tomorrow. Oddly enough, I did not miss my banana and spinach smoothie TOO much. I think the introduction of these exotic fruits helped me deal. =)
CIAO GUYS!
