RAW FOOD TRIAL DAY 27
DAY 27
3 MORE DAYS?!?
MEAT CRAVINGS: My meat cravings as of now are almost non-existent. Well…no that’s not exactly true. I do get the cravings but they are easily subdued by eating something salty or spicy. In the beginning of this trial, it was quite difficult having to smell bacon frying or seeing a family member eat a Kentucky fried chicken in front of me without having to go crazy. But as I got farther into the trial, and started introducing new and exciting raw foods, my temptation towards meat grew smaller and smaller. I think my cravings have shifted more towards wanting something salty rather than wanting some meat. It has become so much more easier dealing with this want for saltier foods for all I have to do is throw together a nori wrap and have a tbsp of nama shoyu (raw soy sauce) as a dipping sauce, or have some veggies with a dollop of salsa on top.
So…I splurged a little on my visit to the organic store…
It is amazing how much a few raw goodies can run up to! But don’t worry, I only ended up eating the “snack raw” bar (which is a raw cashew and coconut filled chocolate wrap --DELISH!) and having a few nibbles on one of the “wild jungle peanut butter cups”. And yes, all the goodies you see in the picture are RAW. All them have not been chemically tampered with or heated over 115 degrees F. Raw chocolate is amazing! The flavour is intense yet still quite enjoyable! It is very different from your average chocolate bar! I have never really been a fan of dark chocolate. But I think ever since starting this trial, my palate has grown to love and appreciate the simplicity of flavour without it having any of the added modified/refined junk.
Intake for today:
* green smoothie (consisting of 2 large bananas, 2 handfuls spinach, 1 cup frozen strawberries, 2 tbsp flaxseed, 1 1/3 cup water)
* 1 pumello and 4 plumbs
I actually had to split this meal into 2 parts. I took this picture before I packed it up so to have during my lunch breaks. So count this as two meals =)
*1/3 cup pitted dates, 1/3 cup almonds
These dates are the same ones I had earlier on in this trial but not the same ones as the Algerian dates I had the other day. I found the measuring on the back of both packaging confusing. For these one’s, it read 1/3 cup (or 40 g) = 1 serving, while for the Algerian dates, it read 5 dates (45g) = 1 serving -- each serving is 120 servings for both. From what I’ve measured, 1/3 cup of dates is way more than 5 dates. Although, the Algerian dates weren’t pitted so I don’t know if that had anything to do with it. Or maybe I’m just totally reading into this whole thing all wrong! =/
* 4 lettuce leaf wraps (each wrap consisted of 2-3 tbsp of home-made salsa and one mushroom), 1/3 cup dates
Same meal as the one I had yesterday minus the banana. Again, I ended up drinking two pitchers of water after this meal =/. It’s painful but OH-SO-YUMMY J .
* a mug of hot cacao and 1 avocado.
Energy levels were quite high once again. Except I really have to watch out for those dates! I eat them like they’re potato chips! They do a good job in giving you an instant sugar rush without the harsh sugar crash in the end but I still shouldn’t over due it.
Till next time, folks!

Hi there. Thank you so much for the wonderful comment you made. You're right hey. I know that i tend to binge when I feel some control that's linked to my own procrastination of an important issue. The thing is I haven't chosen to actually deal with this type of reaction. Things must have been ok lately cos that was the first time in months that that has happened.Nevertheless its an expensive handicap for one to have so I must deal with it.
I used to eat raw last year untill I discovered the pleasures of soya, I can even make my own soya burgers now!lol. I'm still a strict avo-lcto vegetarian for nearly 2yrs now. Ur right, its not really meat cravings, but purely salt cravings. I have a very savoury palette instead of a sweet tooth. Maybe I should go back to raw for a while. It does wonder for your health and for your minds agility.
So what lead you to cross to the otherside, in terms of healthy eating?
Hope to hear from again.
Luvvies
Tulip
Wow, a raw food diet, thats a new one to me! interesting!
I love plumbs. But they are so expensive for me. They are juicy and sweet. There is three days left of your trial. Do not give up. Try my Funny Walnut Bean Drink after it. ^^
